"Open Maya" is a base for my open source render-implementaion-framework. I really appreciate the work of render writers. They do a phantastic job, but using such a renderer is complicated: You have to create models, export it as obj, create a renderer description file, load it into the renderer, apply materials, define materials, almost everything by hand in a text file. So I thought it would be a good idea to create this framework which enables me to implement the basic features of a new renderer during only one weekend.
Of course it needs much more work to make it really good, but it is a good start. Have a look at the already existing projects.
