IMPY'S ISLAND

"Impy's Island" followed "Back to Gaya". Here my tasks moved a bit away from character setup more to rendering and pipeline management. We introduced Alienbrain as our Database backbone what was a huge benefit and allowed us to automate a lot of tasks. In "Back to Gaya" we had some poor interns whose job was to do playblasts from final scenes. Yes indeed, these people loaded a maya scene, executed "playblast" and waited until it was done. Now we were able to give them more demanding jobs by automatically triggering the blasts by Alienbrain.
For this movie, we started to use mentalray for ambient occlusion what gave our scenes a bit more depth. We still used Shaghair for rendering of all hair in 3dsmax.
